Discover Bank is a member of Discover Financial Services, one of the country's leading financial networks. As one of the most valued providers of Direct Savings Accounts (DSAs) on the Internet, Discover Bank offers great rates and savings plans for people of every age.
Mission Possible
Discover Bank came to Fusebox with the need for a website redesign. We understood immediately that as a rapidly growing business, they needed it yesterday, as each day represents a lost opportunity. In addition to the redesign, we were asked to simultaneously design and implement a white label strategy for the American Automobile Association (AAA), which offers deposits products through a strategic partnership with Discover Bank. Needless to say we had our work cut out for us.
Highly Detailed Process, High Speed
To allow Discover Bank to launch on a tight deadline and meet their business objectives, we set to work. To kick-off the redesign process, we began with a strategic planning phase. We interviewed key stakeholders from both Discover Bank and AAA, including Customer Service, Operations, and Marketing & Sales. We then assessed their technology infrastructure, analyzed Discover Bank's traffic and site metrics and took an in-depth look at their customers. A timetable was then put in place so the Discover Bank and AAA websites would launch within a day of each other.
Value-Added Redesign
The strategic planning phase quickly transitioned to the design phase, where we mapped out the site structure. All aspects of the site redesign were carefully evaluated and tested. Critical to the redesign was an emphasis on Discover Bank's great rates. Therefore a strategy for promoting special offers and managing rates was implemented. In addition, great efforts were made to capture the value of a Discover Bank account with interactive charts and calculators. And we added custom tag lines and metaphors to enhance the marketing objectives and give the site a new voice.
Better Usability Created A 50% Increase In New Accounts
The end-result was a flexible design structure that optimized customer usability and service, and a backend that managed rate services, ensuring that accurate rates are displayed for all media online, from banners and email campaigns to private label programs. Two weeks after the launch there was a 50% increase in new accounts.
